WELCOME

My name is Megan Erickson and I have recently moved to the Newton area. Prior to moving here, I was a director of a preschool center in California where I also served as the head teacher. I am looking to start a preschool program here in Newton.

I am dedicated to providing a developmentally appropriate program designed to support the cognitive, physical, social and emotional growth of each child in a safe, healthy environment.

I am only going to have 5 children at a time to keep the ratio down. That way I can offer more attention to the individual needs of each child. If you are interested please feel free to call and set up a time to meet. I look forward to working with you and your child.

Thematic Curriculum

I like to use a thematic approach to curriculum because it allows me to plan topics based on the children’s interest. At this age, there’s no point in going into a lot of detail on a particular subject if it won’t hold their attention. I have found that children will get the most of topics they are curious about and are able to relate to. I like to include the children in discussing what the next theme will be. At the open house I will have a survey for you to fill out about your child’s interests so I can include those topics in the themes we will learn about. I will incorporate the theme into the different areas of learning whether it's learning letters, art, physical activities, science, etc. and I will do my best to make it fun and exciting for the children.
